We were honored to host Dr. Jessica Mellinger, MD, MSc, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Henry Ford Health–Michigan State University, as the plenary speaker at this year's CADRE Symposium.
Dr. Mellinger presented “Research in AUD-ALD: Bringing Integration from the Bedside to the Bench,” highlighting her groundbreaking work in alcohol use disorder (AUD) and alcohol-related liver disease (ALD). Her talk focused on the importance of integrated, multidisciplinary care models and the development of behavioral interventions tailored for patients with ALD.
A clinician-researcher in general and transplant hepatology, Dr. Mellinger holds medical and advanced research degrees from Northwestern University, Oxford University, and the University of Michigan. Her research spans the epidemiology of ALD, access to and cost-effectiveness of AUD treatment, and clinical innovation in co-located care. In 2018, she co-founded the Michigan Alcohol Improvement Network’s Multidisciplinary ALD Clinic—one of the first fully integrated liver and addiction treatment clinics in the U.S.—and is currently funded by NIAAA and NIDA to advance behavioral interventions for this population.
