Our Mission

The Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE) aims to become a national leader in research exploring the link between substance use and chronic diseases in vulnerable populations, with a particular focus on historically underrepresented groups. CADRE also seeks to be a valuable resource for training and research at both regional and national levels.

In Phase II, we are continuing to grow our center by building upon our existing team of early-career investigators and enhancing the sustainability of our three Research Cores: the Administrative Core, the Clinical Laboratory Core (CLC), and the Recruitment, Engagement, and Community Health (REACH) Core.

Clinical Lab Core

The Clinical Laboratory Core (CLC) provides investigators with the tools they need.

The REACH Core

The REACH Core is a team of recruitment and marketing experts. We offer a paid service to efficiently manage your enrollment goals to ensure they are met on time.

Administrative Core

The Administrative Core provides the scientific leadership and administrative support essential for the success of the Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE).

We continue to support research projects led by early stage investigators, with the goal of strengthening their research programs and increasing their competitiveness for independent funding. Additionally, we are actively working to extend our services to non-CADRE researchers in Rhode Island and other IDeA states and to broaden our community impact through increased engagement and dissemination of research findings.

Finally, in Phase II Brown University is supporting CADRE's mission to diversify the biomedical workforce and address health disparities through a pilot grants program targeting substance use and chronic diseases, particularly in vulnerable and under-represented populations.
