Postdoctoral Research Associates

CADRE recruits associates with interests aligning with our center, including substance use issues in vulnerable populations.

Program Description:

The Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at Brown University is the administrative home of the NIH-funded Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE). This $12 million grant, awarded in August 2019, focuses on the intricate relationship between substance use and chronic disease, with a special emphasis on vulnerable populations, particularly racial and ethnic minorities.

CADRE is not currently accepting applications for a postdoctoral research associate. Please stay tuned for future funding opportunities.

Position Overview:

  • Research Focus: Address substance use issues, particularly tobacco use, in high-risk, low-SES populations.
  • Mentorship: Collaborate with leading experts in the field such as Peter Monti, PhD (PI and Director), Jasjit S. Ahluwalia, MD, MPH (Deputy Director), and Jennifer Tidey, PhD (Core Leader).
  • Opportunities: Engage in ongoing and new pilot studies, participate in team grant writing, and develop your own grant proposals.
  • Training Platform: Benefit from Brown’s renowned T32 programs in substance use funded by NIDA and NIAAA, which include seminars, hands-on research experience, manuscript writing, and intensive mentored grant writing.

Benefits:

  • Compensation: Includes health insurance, a salary aligned with federal NRSA stipend levels, and funds for conference travel.
  • Eligibility: Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in relevant fields such as public health, behavioral sciences, psychology, or sociology.

Application Process:

Although we are not accepting applications at this time, prospective candidates are typically required to submit a cover letter detailing research interests, previous experience, and career goals, along with a curriculum vitae. For additional information or inquiries, please contact Jasjit S. Ahluwalia at cadre-postdoc@brown.edu.  You may also visit the School of Public Health Faculty Affairs website to view currently open positions.
